Re Amemiya 2002 Gt Wideobdy Kit Arrived!
#24
Hey Chuck, question for you....Since I've committed to going three rotor later this year, I'll be in need of a widebody. I'm interested in the AD GT sides. I've heard that that kit and the widebody you are going to offer are pretty much identical in width, or more precisely, they both allow the same amount of additional rim width. I'd like to go as wide as possible, especially in the rear. Would a 12-13" rim fit in the AD GT or will I need something like the widebody 2002? TIA.

Talked to Chuck about the differences between the GT2002 and the AD GT kit in terms of wheel rim width. I'll post here for those that are interested. Essentially, you'll be able to fit a 12" rim with the AD GT kit as long as the offset is spot on. It'll be a tight fit in other words. The GT2002 is substantially wider and will allow 12" easily, maybe even a 13" rim. Problem is, the only way you're going to get a rim that wide with the right offset, custom, custom, custom. $$$$. Chuck, Chuck he's our man, if he can't do, no one can!

My cousin did some measurement on the widebody fenders and rear quarter panel for me on the GT2002 widebody:
front fender is about 8" in width. The stock one is about 6"
rear quarter panel add-on is about 9" in width, measured from the edge of the hatch to the end of the fender. Stock measurement is about 7"
So the widebody can add about 2" per side front and back. Yup, you will be able to fit 13" in the back with the right offset. 12" shouldn't be a problem at all. For the front, you can fit 12" with the right offset, and 11" should be easy.
I might have to make my widebody even wider to accept 335-30-18 tires in the front and back.
On the AD GT kit, it adds 1" front and back vs the widebody which adds 2".
