I am thinking about buying a gen 3 rx7. I had a few questions.

1) What is the maximum power i could get to the wheels with the stock sequential setup?

2) What are the sizes of the factory turbos?

3) How well built is the 5speed tranny?

4) If you want to get to 400 whp and still run a sequential setup what all would i need to buy? (which turbos, injectors etc.)

5) Which year if any is the best FD and what is a reasonable price for the car?

Thank you for your help.

1) about 360-380whp depending on mods; a few people have gotten 400whp but not very many and the turbos don't last too long

2) Tiny, twin hitachis HT12 if I remember correctly

3) Strong, usually the diff goes before the tranny does, the 5th gear syncro may need to be updated with a reinforced part though

4) reliably? BNR Stage 3 sequential twins with 850/1300 injectors

5) lower mile is better regardless of year. 94 and 95 had more durable interior finish and softer dampers

6) IM NO EXPERT

He's an expert.. just modest

I agree with Neit jnf!

If you want respect from fellow rotary owners, than get an 95 silver R2 and keep it pretty much bone stock and don't mod it (except relaibility mods).

If you want respect from high school kids, than pick up a touring 93 with HIGH HIGH miles, with bad body, and just completely re- do the car.

if you ask me the best 3rd gen. I would buy a 93 in good condition (r1) white is a rarer color also . granted usually 93 fd and good condition is an oxymoron but they do exist... the reaon I recomend it is that that 94+ had a pasenger airbag which added weight as did the steel moonroof where the 93 had a glass peice this should reduce some weight not a ton but every bit helps. also getting 400whp is HARD to get on stock twins maybe efini twins but that is just a guess. I wouldn't try it! secondly what do you want to set your car up for road racing shouldn't need more than 350whp and drag racing is... well a single turbos area anyway. If you just want a good street car 350 is plenty trust me.

amp,

I guess I should of been more clear. What I meant was buy high mileage FD and put all the body kits and what not to re do the car... instead of getting an low mile FD and modding it.

black93fd, far as i remember, I don't think R1 ever came in in white.

yeah stock power is good on the race track, for some reason adding power to the fd on the race track seems to slow them down? theres a super unlimited car, big single, etc etc etc and it runs times around what a non turbo fc runs, and we cant figure that out...

I'm starting to think black93fd doesn't know much.. so far all of his posts have been somewhat misleading..

First about the sunroof. No 94 had the glass roof not the 93.

Efini turbos are the same.. 99+ special 280s are different. Also they are smaller, spools better, but does not make 400RWHP.

Road Racing, more HP you could put down will be better.. and goes the same with Drag or any other race..

only limiting 350 is non-sense... as other factors plays in racing.. ie, suspension, tires, wheels, etc. If you have a great set up and underpowered or your set up could handle more HP, why not?

Maybe you should drive the car before you think about modding it. I have a 1994 R2 which is stock and i am pretty much going to leave it as is.
