Hi Guys,

Hoping someone migt have an answer to this. Recently had someone do the poor mans non seq conversion. have a full exhaust, profec b spec2, intake and fm cooler. The car has no boost under 3000rpm and at 3 it starts to climb. Is this normal for the NS setup?

It doesn't feel like any lag though. It feels restricted and like a switch at 3k it climbs. Would this have something to do with the charge control valve?

I'll be grateful for any suggestions.

Sounds like the valve is stuck wide open. I bet once the boost climbs it jumps up doesn't it

Thats how it feels. 0 - 3000rpm I get 0 - 1.5 psi then from 3000 to 4500 it climbs to 12psi. Isn't the valve supposed to stay open though?

Guess I should pull off the pipe and find out https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

No, normally a vacuum actuated valve opens it at about 3500 I believe? Having that wide open isn't allowing the primary turbo to spool but the secondary is spoiling up faster and has higher pressure

on an NS car.. the valves are removed, if done properly (ie, not the poorman's mod) Boost should start building around 2500-3500, depending on what mods you have on the car and gradually build to whatever your Wg is set up for. Take the turbos off and go ahead and do the real mod on it, it'll work ALOT better, AND you need to port the wastegate for it to be able to control boost properly.

Do you have the instructions for doing the real mod to it? It was 10 years ago when i did mine so i don't completely remember all the details on it but i can find my printouts on it if you need them.

Thanks for the feedback lads. I'm gonna stop fooling around with the stock twins I think.

Placing an order for a t04z this month along with a whole buch of performance goodies.

Will do https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif Already looked at additional costs. My mechanic will be doing all the fab and tuning.

Did you run into issues with your tune?

thatpoorguy 12-13-2010 07:15 PM

Besides not being able to afford the final one not much lol

Oh right LOL.

Hope you got it sorted. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif This is actually my first RE car so I'm learning something new everyday. Luckily, I know where to turn to for help when I need it.

make sure that your "tuner" will cover the cost of an engine if he fucks up in the search of a final RWHP # for you.....

Hopefully this spring I'll be able to get mine in for her tune. Try to find a rotary specific tuner if you can, lean conditions cause detonations which blow apex seals lol

Will do. This guy is a pro with rotaries.

He just rolled out a tough 20b FC a few weeks ago. It made 352KW (470HP) at the wheels consistantly over quite a few runs. Spoke to the owner of the car and he says it runs great.

Thanks for the advice lads!

This is what the owner of the shop that built mine was building for himself. He's aiming for 1000 hp lol

Thats nuts man! There is a few nice FDs here in Australia. I'd like to stick with the 13B, although a 20B would be nice too.

Alot of guys here are going with the T51R on the 13B. After a few talks with my workshop, looks like the whole car will be gettin stripped and overhauled.I'll be creating a thread with my build.

CANT WAIT!

Keep us posted! I've always seen some amazing handbuilt cars come out of Australia so I can't wait to see how yours turns out
