i remove all 9 PPF bolts/nuts and remove the PPF completely... gets it out of my way. There are 4 bolts at the rear of the drive shaft to remove and the rear will drop down, and then the front will slid out.

If you remove the engine harness with the engine/tranny (i recommend this) you only need to disconnect the main harness going thru the firewall under the ABS pump... and a few connections on the drivers side of the engine.

use a level with your picker..

it will help distribute the load when unloading with the tranny....

it warns that you need to replace the 8 nuts and 1 bolt in the process, is it worth replacing? what advantages is it to remove the entire ppf frame fromt he car according that that http://www.alexwan.com/rx-7/journal/012103/012103.html

website it mentioned only 4 nutes were needed to removie the engine and tranny.. trying to remove as little things as possible to not get confused where everything goes when come time to reinstall. thank you

considering that stock PPFs crack frequently... it'd be a good time to remove it completely, clean it up and inspect it. I've never replaced those nuts and bolts before... never had one work it's way loose either.

You also don't have to worry about trying to support the PPF if you need to move the car while the engine/tranny is out of it.

Dave you have no idea. To make a long story very short, one awfull night, a few years ago, I had about 3 quarts dumped all over my head and body, eyes open and everything. I was wearing a work uniform at the time, and even after being washed by the uniform company 15 times, the smell never went away.

I heard that!!! I have an old navy T-shirt from 2003 that still smells of gear oil..

remove the slave

then take a long screwdriver and push the collar lip towards the pressureplate. It can be a pain, but ive found that taking out the slave makes the job WAY easier.
