price of a fd3?
I was just educating my wife on this topic about a week ago. A nasty 3rd gen project car will set you back at least 5k. You can find decent drivers for 10-15k. Nice, low mileage cars still bring 15-20k. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will set me straight!
Above ranges seem about right to me.
I bought my FD, 93, 5sp touring, 44,000 miles, for $16,500 two months ago. I looked on and off at ads for 2 years and made 3 trips to look at FDs before buying. I think with the recession you can find some at slightly better prices than a couple of years ago if you look diligently.
If you can find one in your area that is what you're looking for it doesn't hurt. If you travel hundreds of miles to look at a car, seller knows you're really interested!

I bought my fd just over a year ago. I found it on cars.com. I had been looking for about 6 months. You should be able to find one that runs relatively well for $14k to $16k. I paid $10k for a stock car with a blown engine, good interior, and good body. I also had to travel over 400 miles to pick it up. No matter what car you find, you should be prepared to replace the engine and turbos. You should be able to get a rebuilt engine for $4-$5k and new turbos for about $3k. I got '99 spec turbos from rotary performance in TX. They are a great outfit. Then you will need to put it all together. If you do not think that doing this kind of work your self is for you, then you should not consider an fd, unless you have a lot of money to burn. If that is the case, then just spend $20k for a turnkey car. Half the fun of owning an fd is learning the details of taking it apart and putting it back together. You will learn what an engineering marvel it really is.

holy ****. When did the prices start going back up on them? I gave $18k for mine 12 years ago with about 30k miles on it. Since then i've seen GOOD ones for under $10k and ragged ones for $2-3k.
Man, i wish mine was still stock-ish... i'd sell that thing tomorrow!
