I ask this because in all my certainty of the FD being for me, I know I'd love to be able to take it down to South Carolina one of the many times I visit my friend down @ myrtle beach.
My plans for the FD would be near stock, reliability stuff...etc. So nothing wild. I would suppose I'd turn the boost down or simply stay out of it crusing at 70 the whole way. Making stops for gas gives it some cool down time...
...but Overall I'd love to be/feel confident going down with it. I wouldn't want to get stuck somewhere along the way...that'd SUCK.

i did the 6 hours to la and back in mine without a hitch. its not the long drives that are hard on the car its the stort ones, the heatup/coopdown cycles are hard on it. if you heat it up and leave it there thats a lot better.
things to check before you leave are stuff like; coolant hoses, belts, tires etc
the amount of boost or turbo you have doesnt matter much, cause you cant boost for 12hours

yeh m8 j9fd3s is 100% rite its contantly driving your car when the oil temp isnt up that dosue the damage one you get it up it wil go for ever 
for big luxury cars like my mums jaguar there is an electric oil heater whitch makes sure the car can do constant short journeys or long slow speed journeys (never seen a short or slow drive when i manage to steal it )

not sure if i would drive mine that long. not because i dont trust the car to make it there. but rather a 12 hour drive in my fd seems uncomfortable. i drive about 3 hours to visit some friends in orlando and by the time i get there i am totally drained of energy.

no need to supress boost..
just need to make sure your fluids and temps are up to par throughout the trip..
not to mention the obvious items such as tires.. weather.. etc
