I replaced the spark plug wires and spark plugs, but took apart some extra stuff cause the manual said to, i had to lift up the vaccum chamber according to the book. Anyway, now when i start my car it shakes alot, almost sounds like one might be misfiring. There is a lot of smoke, but that is probably just because of the cold start (its around 40 degrees here).

So last week my engine shook alot, but i went and drove it anyways just to see, the engine drove beautifully after about 4 minutes, and when i parked it in the driveway and let it sit for a while the idle was perfect.

I started it up again this weekend (didn't drive it during the week) and it wouldn't even go up to 3000rpm at the start, it went to like 2 and sounded really bad, i put it in the garage and took apart the stuff i took apart last week to see if anything was wrong. Here are some pics i took. I'm not sure where that blue wire in the picture is supposed to go, there is absolutely no blue connector i can find to go to it...maybe the previous owner took it out???. Anyway, could the crappy idle and not being able to get to 3000rpm on the startup be due to a rip in the gasket that goes from the throttle body to the manifold? I"m getting a metal replacement for it.

I really need some help, i have no idea what could be wrong right now.

First word of advice...Although the manual is vital to every 3rd gen owner. I think it somtimes misguides you. Just my opinion.

Second thing...Blue Connector is only connected on California cars for the EGR. No biggy. Mine is disconnected too!

third thing- A gasket wouldnt keep the car from being able to not reach a certain RPM range.

About the idle...I am not sure what you mean about the RPMs. Are you saying when you try to drive it you cant get any higher then 2k in any gear? It has a crappy idel from what you said so my guess! is either you didnt connect the connectors correctly on the UIM. The vacuum hoses were not connected correctly OR!!! You accidently disconnected a hoses when taking all that stuff off. Good Luck with your search. Check those things and see if it fixes it!

when i start the car, instead of going straight up to 3k rpm, it only went to around 2k and the engine was really shaking. Before i put in the spark plugs, the engine would shake alittle until it warmed up, but it always would hit 3k rpm. i'm going to put the car back together right now and see how it starts in like 15 minutes

Could be misfiring. Check each wire for spark. Then try it!

i put it back together, started it once and it went to 2k...then i shut the hood of the car which was open, started it, and it went up to 3k, i drove it around and it drove fine, only when my turbos went on i could hear what sounded like a loose hose. The air sounds from the engine were much louder than usual when the turbos kicked in, but i still felt good boost. The boost gauge goes in on monday as soon as i get a hose to connect it to the manifold, so i guess that will let me know if a hose is loose.

If you can hear air then you have a loose hose. Check to make sure all your clamsp are tight that go around the IC piping. Then check the hoses around were you put the ignition wires. Confirm the position of the hoses behind the manifold. Those can be tricky. Use a shop manual or you can find a picture at Daves website .....FD3BOOST.COM
