If been searching on the OMP and it's operating characteristics, but I seem to be missing something.. And I think it's related to my car's strange smoking habits.

I drive 1 mile to work. It's on a Aif Force Base. 30 miles an hour, VERY minimal boosting. I work 8 hours, get off and start my car. It smokes (oil) for like 30 seconds until it starts warming up. After that, it doesn't smoke. This is the only time it smokes to this degree. It usually only lets out a little white puff of smoke when I start up...

I know burning oil is normal, but does the OMP add more oil under light driving? That doesn't seem to make sense but seems to be that cold startup after light driving = more smoke. If I cold start the car after more aggressive driving, the smoke isn't there...

Any ideas?

IMO I think that it might be your turbo instead of your OMP. Yes the OMP squits oil in but it shouldn't be alot while doing some light driving. IMO the reason it smokes more after light in comparison to heavy driving is that your seals aren't as hot and tend to shrink faster. You may want to check the seals on the turbo and the motor. There may be a couple of bad ones.

That's up to you man . Sorry that this is happening. Atleast this way you have a good excuse to go with a large single turbo setup . Then you can do this alot more. B)

Wait a minute.....you said WHITE smoke. What color is it??? If your burning oil its a blueish color. If the smoke is white its coolant. During the winter they smoke white from condensation buildup in the exhaust but its not winter.

You can do a compression test on your cooling system over night and see if the pressure drops.

I hope I'm wrong though

Reason I said it's oil is cause it smells like oil. Not coolant. Looks blueish tho...But it's weird because it only does it sometimes. Mostly when I drive short distances, without boosting...

Scenerio 1: Wake up, drive to work. 1 mile. 30 mph. No boosting. (or minimal) Get off work 8 hours later, car smokes for the first 30 seconds or so. Thick, oil smelling smoke. Goes away COMPLETELY after warmup.

Scenerio 2: Wake up, drive to St.Louis. 75-80 mph. Full boost runs... regular, but not over agressive driving. No redlines.... Park car. Next day, start car. No smoke.

When I start the car in the morning, whether or not it smokes, depends on where I went with it.... SO ******* WIERD.

BTW, THANKS FOR THE INPUT!!!! I posted this on the bastard forum and got ignored. FAWKERS.

Mine does the exact same friggin thing. I thought it was normal

How do you know if its the turbos in particular causing the smoke? My car runs 7psi on first turbo and 12psi boost on the second turbo (which I already know is asking for trouble but it how I bought it 6 months ago) Should I be getting the turbos looked at. Ive been wanting to dial the boost down to 10psi anyway.

My car does this normally...but I also KNOW that my primary turbine's blown...so I'll run her into the ground until I can go big single turbo :bigok:

Maybe the car isn't warming up enough to clear everything out?
