ok i took my RX7 out of storage today and I change my oil and stuff cause its been a few months in storage.. anyways i start her up afterwards and its like 60pounds of pressure and when i drove off in my car when i gave it gas it was like 120psi, then when i go to a stoplight and its at idle its like at 10psi or just barely makin the needle move on the gauge but as soon as i hit the gas it jumps up to at least 25-30psi... But it got me thinking cause i never noticed it before and if i did i forgot but does that sound right? after letting it run for a good 15 mins i never again seen the 120psi but it still goes to around 60psi when i get on it..

did i confuse you guys with this?? basically my car runs really low oil pressure at idle and normal at throttle only at warm engine temp tho.. i just didnt know if it supposed to barely make the oil pressure gauge move when its at idle and warm or not??

if you have the stock gauge..... i think after time the sensor just goes bad, i know of several other fd's in my area with the same problem, including mine

Yah cause I honestly don't remember having this problem when I was last driving it, and as soon as I took it out of storage boom this happens.. I was scared something was up but it runs great without any problems and when i give it gas the oil press jumps up so I was like well as long as i have 30psi Ill be good but still it scared me at first... when I rebuild my motor if i get too :-) I will change the sensor or I may replace all my gauges in my dash with fresh autometer stuff. Boy that be slick if its easily done!!

by the way my gauge i have now is the stocker.

Before you change out the sensor....try cleaning the wire contact and see what you get. New sensors are pricey and the location just below the oil filter means that contact can get dirty. Use contact cleaner or a wire brush.

IIRC, the FSM says minimum 50 psi at 3000 rpm. If your making that, it's probably fine.

Clean up the connector, or cut the wire and use a 1/4" female spade electrical connector. Fixed mine that way.
