Hey guys I know there is got to be a thead on this allready. i put my FD on thr lift today and the pan is leaking. I though it would be fairly easy to drop the pan and re seal it but it look a little more difficult than I thought. Is there a detailed intruction on what to do to take it off? I guess you have to take out the 6 motor mount bolts then all the pan bolts, then raise the engine up so you can get the pan out. Help me please. Thanks guys.

You should beable to take the motor mounts out and just lift the eng tell you can get to the oil pan bolts. Don't forget to disconnect the oil level sensor on the left side of the oil pan. ( I broke mine the first time) Just use gasket maker as the seal for the oil pan when you put it back up. I forgot to put a bolt in mine and it doesn't leak. ( knock on wood)



I don't understand what you mean "6 motor mount bolts" because there are only 2.

 

there are a total of 8 bolts....2 that bolt to the car, and 6 that bolt to the engine.

 

Your right, I forgot that the motor mounts go into the oil pan. I was thinking of just lifting the motor up enought to losen all the 10mm that hold the pan.

 

yah, and after you make a gasket, dont put oil into the car for 24 hours.. you have to let that stuff set, or your likely to get another leak...

 

and glob it on there...tons of it. Play close attention to the front cover and where the motor mounts go. Those are the most prone to leakage.

 

Yup, thats where it is leaking now. The oilis all over the passenger side

motor mount.



Does anyone know how long it will take to take it out?



The oil pan will con completely out with not probs if you lift the motor?



My I dea to lift the motor is to push up on the tranny with a jack . Is that the best way?



I have this black silicone at workthat we use all the time. So i thin it shoube ok to use that instead of the gasket maker.

 

Also I am not going to tighten the pan until the sealer is dry. I will tighten it enough so the sealer is touching all the way around the gap between the motor and pan. So the next day I tighten it, it shold create a good seal.

 

just wait like 5 mins until the sealant starts becoming tacky and then put it on.
