ok there are 2 we are concerned with:

short: B6Y1-14-302A/B6Y2-14-302A b6y1 is the jdm part, b6y2 is the usdm part. the usa part is made by tennex.

tall: JEY0-14-302A/G6Y0-14-302/JEY0-14-302A-9U; this is the tall, the JEYO-14-302A is the jdm part, everything else is usdm

if you run across the jdm parts they are grey market imports, oddly the only way to get some oem mazda parts is to not buy from mazdausa

I like the K&N filters personally. They have a nut shaped on the top so that you can get them on and off with a 1" socket.

Canadian Tire had those... They are like 17 bucks each. The blue mazda ones are 4 bucks each if you buy a case of 6. Or 3.75 each if you buy 24 and split them amoungst freinds.

To replace 17.99 filter + tax every month makes you want to cry. I also noticed the price of Castrol GTX going up as well. Even walmart raised their prices, higher than canadian tires. The beauty of canadian tire is you aren't dealing with reject shoppers. I went to buy GTX at walmart one day and someone had returned it with the seal open, so i looked at it and inside was used motor oil. Now that is just low.

agree about the K&N, I've been using them for 2 years now. Besides the nut on top, it also has a hole for some safety wire
