I went out for a cruise tonight. On the way home when I got on the car just befor the secondary turbo comes on I hear a whistle then it goes a way. The car is a 93 with 90k all original the only mod on the car is a blitz intake. The sound only last for a second or two. Car seems to runnig fine. Power seems to but the same. Just a new sound any ideas......

Thanks,

Craig from New York

How old is your intake? Sometimes the sound of the turbos spooling changes with your intake.

The blitz is a metal intake so it doesn't clogg easily and sound won't change if it is.

Check your couplings...ALL OF THEM...

i hate couplings, my Tbolt clamps came in today though, 33 of them. ended up paying like 2.50 each from mcmaster carr, enough to do the 11 couplers on my IC and the 6 on my friend's wrx. No more leaks...i hope.

I hate to be the guy to tell you this but it sounds like your turbos are dying.

It will get louder until they go out. Did it sound as though someone was whistling when you boost it?

My old set died the same way. When the finally went (about 4 months time)

The shaft bent and the blades got broken off and sent into my IC.

Couplings.....If it went away then maybe a jolt did something. It may come back though

i got that same noise, my secondary compressor wheel was warped and it wore down on the oil seal eventually leaking lots of oil. my advice if u want to go out and replace it with new parts, go single its much cheaper and u can get more power in the long run. if u want to save money go with used twins

Oh Hell I dont know.... The Sound is back.. Seems like when the motor gets hot the sound begins.. I am not doubting any one but if the turbos are going why is the noise only for a second and then goes away... To me it sounds like a bad vacuum leak. But I am new to the rotary and new to Turbos as well...... Seems very odd... I think I am just going to pull them out and rebuild them any way just to be on the safe side... Any Ideas on where I can get the parts to rebuild them... Are there any places you guys can recommened?

Thanks,

Craig K
