I finished installing my new single turbo, I'am having a few issues. First the car is hard to start, after a few minutes its starts then it idles to 2000rpms then turn off, this happens between 2-3 times. Then it starts and idles at again at 2000rpm then drops to 1500rpms and then stays at 1500rpms. During the idle issues I notice my turbo manifold going into the engine block is glowing red hot and smoking along with my exhaust smoking. Any suggesting on whats going on here?

Your manifold should not glow directly after start like that- I would check the cats that you have for clogging issues. Oh, and about the smoking, is it coming out of the exhaust, or is the unit just smoking- and what color is the smoke?

 

Its a brand new cat I bought from rx7store, The smoke is coming from the exhaust I think the other smoke is just coming from my manifold because its so hott.

 

Is it a new turbo? I had my engine rebuilt a few months ago. After i put it back when i started it up it bellowed smoke from the exhaust once it warmed up. Turned out the turbo ( modified T04s ) was leaking oil inside the exhuast housing. And it had the same exhuast glow you mentioned. Can't tellyou why but as soon as the turbo was rebuilt it all came good.

 

Glowing indicates engine timing is too far retarded. Find someone to tune the car.
