The New DODGE FD!
#1
Well here is a reminder of how much the FD market has changed in the past ten years or so.
This car was built 9 years ago by Wise One Auto here in Japan.
The car was bought with 3,000 kilometers on it and immediately torn apart for chassis strengthening. Stich welds, spot welds, and some of the old school rivets as well. Then the car was completely repainted in a white pearl with a Top Fuel body kit that looks like something a Designer from Dodge would have drawn up. New seats and simpson belts were thrown in and the air conditioning and stereo were taken out.
An Apexi Power FC was added to the car along with a front mount and an electric airpump so that it could remain street legal without the drag of the air pump pulley.
The car was tuned to 370 hp on stock turbos and stock ports with stock injection.
Koji drove the car for 5000 kilometers and then the car sat for 5-6 years until we pulled it out from the back lot yesturday and got her cleaned up and running. The fuel pump and pump housing\bracket were rusted into a giant orange clump. The fuel that remained in the tank was not a pretty pink color anymore but a mucky orange tang color. The tank was drained and cleand and a new fuel pump was dropped in along with some 100 octane fuel. Oil was changed and then the system was primed. Crank crank...... nothing for a long time. checked spark it was good checkd fuel pump and it was spinning. So we sprayed a bit of parts cleaner in the intake and it immediately sprang to life for 2 seconds. This meant everything was ok aside from fuel getting to the engine. From that point we checked to see if the injectors were clicking/ opening and they were not. When you have stuck plugs you can take them out and have them cleaned or you can try a last minute trick and tap them with a screw driver or a tac hammer lightly to see if the open up while cranking the engine. The first try didnt work, then we tried one last time an on the second tap of the front housings primary injector it started up with a lumpy idle. I tapped the rear injector 4 times and then the idles smoothed out and the car was alive again!
Here are some pics of the car before it sat for 6 years. I will take some other pics later today when I get a chance.
Oh this is a Top Fuel Aero kit from 8 years or so ago. Thankfully they have stopped producing this eyesore.

thats not the full kit tho unless it has the top fuel rear wing that went with the kit...if it has that wing you can fetch a nice penny for it everyone wants one over at the club lol.
i cant find the pic but theres one old fd with that kit painted viper blue with the viper stripes too.
looks odd. yet tasteful.
