I'm going to fab up some solid engine mounts and I need to see what the stock USA ones are like.. In japan the left mount is aluminum with the rubber formed to it and the right side is steel with a bolt on rubber mount.. then on later models they are both steel with the bolt on mount.. Are they the same in the USA and If they changed them up what year did they do it..

Thanks,

Chris

helihansen 12-31-2003 04:32 AM

Driver side is formed and passenger side has the bolt. Mine is a 94 and I know 93 is the same. I dont think they changed it in 95 but I could be wrong. I have heard though that some people use 2 right mounts and turn the driver side around somehow. Just what ive heard.

turbovr6 12-31-2003 06:11 AM

They changed it here too. I bought new mounts from the dealer, and the new left side one was different then the original. No more aluminum. So they are both identical now.

Dragon 12-31-2003 07:28 AM

Cool.. I'm about to make solid engine mounts to sell. People with both steel brackets will only need the solid mounts I'm going to make, but people with the older aluminum formed mount on their car will need to have both solid mounts and a bracket for the US Drivers side then.. Good to know info.. I currently have 7 or 8 of the new style steel mounting brackets, Maybe more if I look threw some more of my parts lying around... I've already started making the mounts and will probably put them up for sale around the time I head to the Tokyo Auto Salon next week or right after I get back.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

here is the first one.. The bolt threw the bracket is just to hold it together for the picture and is not the actual one that will come with it. It will come with stainless steel bolts and washers with Nuts for both mounts. You will use your stock turbo side Mounting bracket and the other one I can include for those who will need it that have the stock aluminum motor mount type. I only have enough of the steel mounting brackets to sell 8 sets with the bracket. I will also sell just the 2 aluminum mounts with out the bracket for those who already have the steel one on both sides. The solid Mount is Made out of 2024 Aluminum.

$175 for what you see in the picture + all of the stainless steel bolts, washers and Nuts to install it shipped to the USA or Canada

$110 for just the 2 mount's with all the bolts and hardware needed to install it shipped to the USA or Canada.

apexkw 01-01-2004 01:04 PM

welll considering i was trying to save enough money for the Kazama solid engine mounts i think i will go this way instead. i didnt realize that the 93 engine mounts were different. so i guess i need the $175 set. let me know when your ready and i will send you some money. also will i get a discount if i get the engine mounts and a diff brace?

vspecpgt 01-01-2004 10:29 PM

how will this make the car feel? not that i'm really worried... since i will soon have both your braces anyway plus an etb and the car is like a vibrating box... haha

also, is there something i should look for to see if i have the stock 93 mounts or if they were switched prior to me buying my car?

Dragons slowly starting to make money off the forum I see. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png

Dragon 01-02-2004 06:27 AM

The US Drivers side mount will be silver if it's aluminum.. It will be a dark gray if it's the Cast steel mount...

You will have a very slight vibration that you won't even really notice after a few weeks of driving it. Also since you have the tranny brace you will get rid of pretty much any of the clunking noise since the engine will not be trying to tork agains the solid tranny brace. One thing thats sweet is if your engine has a lot of tork it will slightly rock the car when you rev the engine.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

lol.. I wish I sold that much... actually.. I don't think I could keep up if I sold any more than I do now... Kinda hard to make all this stuff when I work a 7:30-4:30 day job.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png The reason I'm kicking my self in the ass to do all this right now to help fund my trip to the tokyo autosalon... I bought a camera the other day, so look for a video somtime the following week after I get back.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Expect lots of Nearly Naked Hotties in the vid sitting on Riced out Crap.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif and I'm going to try to make a vid just on the Rotorys that are there as well.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

How well do these wear? I know I sound stupid... Will they cause anything else to wear prematurely? Thanks. I'm interested! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

vspecpgt 01-02-2004 04:31 PM

ok, maybe i have the newer ones and don't have an aluminum drivers side one..... it looks like i have two brackets that look the same... like the red one up there... so is that bracket whats silver?? or what exact part should be silver......

Dragon 01-02-2004 05:53 PM

the mounts themselves shouldn't wear at all because they won't move once bolted in to place and since the engine moves with the body of the car now it should decrease wear of any other parts the run between the engine and body such as intercooler pipes etc.. Also if you have a single turbo etc that sits close to the frame rail it will help keep it from rubbing etc...

Dragon 01-02-2004 05:56 PM

The bracket like the one above that I painted red should both be dark grey if it's steel. The same color as the cast steel front, intermediate and rear plates on the engine.

If it's silver like the altenator in color then it's the aluminum one...

vspecpgt 01-02-2004 08:01 PM

sweet, i think i have both the same then..... well dragon... i guess i'll be sending you a bit more money.... lemme know when these are done and ready to go.....

harrison

ps, i'm guessing that they replaced the motormounts when the motor blew... alright!

Dragon 01-03-2004 05:39 AM

You can pay now if you'd like, I will be picking up the stainless steel bolts on monday and I can ship it monday afternoon or tuesday morning..... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

here you go.... thanks to the scuderiaciriani.com site......

vspecpgt 01-03-2004 03:51 PM

obviously the one on the right is the wierd drivers side one.....

harrison

Dragon 01-03-2004 05:03 PM

those look like they are both steel ones.. The one on the right is the right side mount that sits under the turbo manifold.. You can actually remove the heat shield with the solid mounts because there is no longer any rubber to melt.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

rfreeman27 01-03-2004 05:55 PM

I'm thinking about ordering a tranny brace and some solid mounts from you. Hell the car already rattles and squeeks and clunks (hopefully the tranny brace w/ diff brace will help with these) so whats another rattle?

Hell i could use a good back massage https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
