hey guys just bought 1992 fd that had just had rebuild 700 ks before i bought it. It came with receipts and i rang up the mechanic who confirmed it just a bit worried because it blows white smoke for about 1 -2 minutes when it has been sitting for a while also how often should i change coolant. Also the secondary turbo doesnt seem to boost till about 6500 {just started reving it that high after 2200 ks and another oil change}

The smoke could be the worn seals or old turbos. I would go ahead and pressure test the coolant system to make certain it is healthy. I wouldn't worry about redlining it. It's a rotary, you can hold the gas to the floor until the rev limit bounces if you want. Your not going to "over rev" it. As far as your secondary is concerned. The sequentails are a fairly complicated system. I would recommend that you find a shop that is compitent at trouble shooting the twins on a FD3S and not trying to fix it yourself. You might want to consider going non-sequential to bypass such issues if the rest of the car runs solid.

Enjoy the car.

nice one mate the turbos have 13100 ks on them so that could be problem is it a costly thing to get coolant system done

By your other post and this one, sound like your coolant seals are gone. Like FD3boost suggested, get a coolant pressure test done on your system. Find the leak and see if its your coolant seals or not..

Yes, if its infact your coolant seal, you would need to rebuild your engine.. If its something else, should be a pretty cheap fix.

13100 KS (I'm guessing km) isn't much miles.. I'm also guessing by your post you know very little about rotary cars. I suggest doing some search on how these cars work.

You can get a leak down tester at most any auto parts store. Basically it is a radiator cap with a pump on it.

What you do is put in on your filler neck and pump it up. If it hold pressure then you know your coolant system seals. If it leaks down pressure then you know you have a leak somewhere in the system. If you are not seeing a puddle of coolant then chances are it's leaking past the O-rings and into the block. If that is the case then you will need to rebuild the entire engine. It's pretty common for FD3S to have this problem. I have been down that road myself. Generally speaking the infamous O-ring failure rears it's ugly head around 60k miles and after.

sorry to tell you, you need a rebuild. my car does the same thing. what is happening is the coolant is leaking into your engine. the white smoke is coolant burning up inside your engine and coming out the exhaust. dont worry tho, it will still run ok enough until you can afford the rebuild. but i would suggest it sooner than later. you dont want to do too much more damage to the internals
