hey guys, basically im looking for some pics or details on how to modify the greddy elbow.

I figure basically just cut it off and weld on 3" aluminum piping? i would like some reference pics tho before i go get all "willy-nilly" lol.

thx

Why do you want to basterdize, I mean modify it?

probly bc the front end where the it meets the ic piping goes from 3-2.5 inches it causes a bit of an intake restriction for those using 3in piping kev you could always pm anthonynyc he had his done remember im sure he will give pix and a write up on it

amp 02-23-2007 06:16 PM

just run a coupling thatll support 2.5 to three..

jwteknix 02-23-2007 06:28 PM

i dont think hed wana go 3- 2.5- 3 thst a good amout of restriction in the intake for no reason when u could just cut the 2.5 off and make it 3 all the way

We cut them off right where they start to bend off the TB and weld on 4" piping to go to the intercooler. I'll see if I have any pics here at home, but I think they all might be at work.

It's kinda hard to see, but I don't have any bigger pics from home.

These are of the 3" piping being used, but with an A'PEXi FMIC converted to V-Mount. On that one we cut off the end of the elbow just past where that step is, and welded a lip around it so the coupler wouldn't slip off.

yeah the first pic looks very nice good job

well as for "why" a 2nd gen bay is a lot more cramped, that extra angle of the greddy elbow has it coming out like right next to my alternator, aiming to the pass. side...not exactly good placement when my I/C pipes comes up between the rad and frame rail and directly to the tb.

all unnecessary angles do is create restriction.

those pics are nice dave, thanks. i dont know i fi feel like trying to do the aluminum welding on this or if i should give it to another shop again this time.... ill have to practice a few times.
