i was at kd rotary today checking on my car. i was pissed cause its been so damn long to get my car back from them(they were swapping out my motor for a reman). i was talking to one of the mechanics and he told me that mazda stopped manufacturing remans. he said it was a huge problem because there are about 15 cars there waiting for a motor that mazda isnt building. is anyone being affected by this?

Everyone is effected by this. Malloy has about 30 people on hold for engines. I personally know of two guys who are on the list. Hopefully this all means mazda is trying to make more renesis so they can get a green light on a new engine building plant.

rotarypower101 05-01-2004 12:24 PM

Wow that really sucks guys, how long will they be obligated to keep production on the parts, isn’t it like 10 years or something like that after the last car rolls off the production line?

I guess it is a good thing I have a extra good engine just sitting just incase.

Fd3BOOST 05-01-2004 04:46 PM

I wouldn't worry about it much there are plenty of RX7 parts to last a life time already on the market.

Mazda Motorsports has 0 stock of front plate, intermediate plate and rear rotor housing right now.

Rotarian 1126 05-01-2004 05:19 PM

So what does this all mean?? Am I screwed hypothetically if I blow an apex seal or something major?? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png

94touring 05-01-2004 05:28 PM

V8 swaps for everyone?

i think thats exactly what it means.

TYSON 05-01-2004 09:49 PM

Hardly. Mazda is back to pushing the rotary so hard they're probably hard up for production time. There's talk the next Miata will have a rotary too.

They still have to produce parts for the FD for another 5-6 years anyway, and they must do a good trade in the older engine parts, with how many 7's get used in IT racing for SCCA.

Rotarian 1126 05-01-2004 10:04 PM

Well they still produced the FD until when in Japan?? I think 2001 or something?? Theoretically doesn't Mazda have to produce 13Bs and other FD parts for a good few years for those models?? And if that is true would those "JDM" engines and some of those parts be compatable with our FDs, and would we be able to get our hands on them?? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

i hope so

Srce 05-01-2004 11:38 PM

This is good news, this way, if you guys keep blowing engines and buying RX-8 then Mazda will have to be forced to build another 7 just cuz the demmand is so high LOL.

Blasphemy!!

superturbo charged Renisis for everyone https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

supercharged down low sequential system with bigger turbine up top, best of both worlds quick intake charge and max efficiency up top. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

psyclo 05-02-2004 01:19 PM

could you just imagine, supercharger for low end power and turbo for high rpms, why the hell and a shot of nitrous....... ::Uber grin::

rfreeman27 05-02-2004 02:33 PM

And the system would be even more complicated then the FD's TT fiasco

FikseRxSeven 05-02-2004 02:40 PM

well, if you cant get your parts here

then talk to jt-imports from japan, he'll get you anything

FDokinawa 05-02-2004 02:47 PM

So I guess now would be a good time to sell my spare end and intermediate plates??

-=RX-7 KID=- 05-02-2004 05:40 PM

Aftermarket companys will be making the parts for years. What they dont make you can find in junk yards and people who have spare parts. In japan there is enough parts to last us few over here in the US a long long time. Not to mention that the RX-7 might come back with a modified renises engine. If that happens well all just go get one of those.

There's only been one person in the world that's been able to pull that off AFAIK and it wasn't on a quirky 13b, I think it was on a VW engine. He only got it to work for 1 day.

ooooh... everybody with super duper parts from japan https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

don't forget other countries that recieved the later 7's like Australia and New Zealand, they probably have engine parts aswell.

KingFD 05-03-2004 07:59 AM

Yeah theres a **** load of parts and stuff available here in New Zealand for 13Bs as well as 20Bs.

this is not true. at the moment they have a shortage of cores (reason for the delays) and they are also in the midle of switching plants from Florida to Texas (if memory serves).

ONLY 93's are in shortage right now. you can call up and get any other motor you want. i am sure in a few months things will be back to normal....

ERXRX7 05-03-2004 11:25 AM

So what, they have 94 cores available??

Im one of the many waiting on a Reman from Mazda through Gotham

Im trying to decide on what to do since my core isnt rebuilldable.

Tyson and a few others seem to know whats going on, can you give me your opinion of how long till most backorders might be shipped?

I hear there are over 100 motors on BackOrder.

is 2-3 months an ambitious timeframe??

j9fd3s 05-03-2004 11:51 AM

1st off mazda always runs out of parts in the summer, demand does pick up for these cars in the summer, they never seem to figure this out https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

and second the reman plant is in south carolina

Rotarian 1126 05-03-2004 04:45 PM

I talked to Jeff from Pettit Racing today and I brought this subject up with him and he says it's total bs. From what he said Pettit at least won't have any problem, and doesn't have any problem with getting remanned engines. I tried KD Rotary but their line was disconnected?? # change probably. Anyway, if he's not worried about it I'm not either...... yet....

They actually moved their location cause they got triple leased. I didnt know that so i drove 2 hours up to nazareth to see my car on friday and when i got up there the building was empty. No cars, NOTHING. i got scared cause i was wondering where my car was. There was a guy there moving their lift and he told me that they moved and gave me directions. They moved to a town outside of reading called shoemakersville. Their new building is huge and they are still moving all of their equipment in.

You can check inventory online via Mazda Motorsports.

My motor needs plates and housings, so I was checking.

j9fd3s 05-04-2004 10:33 AM

j008-99-008r-52 is the pn for a manual trans motor. i know a few years ago they kind of built em to order, maybe they are doing that again

ERXRX7 05-04-2004 10:48 AM

How long before you think they can meet most if not all backorders?

2-3 months?

Silver Ninety Three 05-05-2004 01:09 AM

What happened is Mazda had to shut down production of S6 motor parts and retool the factory toproduce RX-8 motor parts for a couple months. Hopefully they will be back in production soon.

Midnightdriver 05-05-2004 07:27 PM

I don't see mazda canning the s6. they are still used in many race series..like the JGTC and scca, etc. Them stopping for a while to make rx-8 eng. parts sounds like something that would be done. and like what was said before they made 7's until 2000-01 in japan.

GarageBoy 05-05-2004 09:10 PM

NOw we have to make the Renesis fit

nopistons94 05-06-2004 01:03 PM

nope, this thread is total bullshit, just talked to Ray at malloy today and i asked about this subject. he said no way are they pulling the program and there is a shortage of cores available but that will be cured within a few months, dont worry guys
