hey guys, my car should be out of the shop soon (finally). don't have money for a single turbo yet (just spent $5k). i'm thinking of making my stock twins non seq, what you guys think??? with the mods i have, does that make sense??? what kind of power difference would i feel??? i don't mind extra lag (it's my weekend car). i'm still very new to the whole rotory thing. i've had my car now for a year (half the time, the car was in the shop) so i don't know if i were to do it, would i do it myself. i would like to, but i'm not a great on working on cars. i could do basic things like brakes, intake, exhaust, tune - ups. stuff like that. if i do it, should i do it myself???? or maybe i can pay someone in the forum that lives in the bay area to do it for me, then i can sit and learn from someone.......hmmmmm

thank you for all your help. :P

Here is a site that tells you when/why you should do it, and HOW TO do it along with a bunch of other peoples opinions on it.

I m having probs with my 2nd turbo not kickin in so I was thinkin bout trying this, but MIGHT just go with a single turbo.

Happy reading.

Non-Sequential Info

grngtcfd3s 08-28-2002 07:56 PM

yeah, i've seen it, but see, i don't have a garage, so the work seems hard. n e ideas???

vosko 08-29-2002 11:46 AM

just a note if your seq twins are working fine. don't bother making it nonseq you won't get anymore power

grngtcfd3s 08-29-2002 02:12 PM

ooo, so does it just simplfy the system???

Fd3BOOST 08-30-2002 11:53 PM

Well that and you eliminate transition boost spikes. It cleans up the engine bay alot also.

I dont want to sound like a broken record but. The poor mans non sequntial how to is on Our site.

It sure is FD3Boost. Vosko you cant run from me haha. Anyhow NON-SEQ is the best way to go. SEQ is a mess and spikes to much and takes out motors and secondary turbos. NON-SEQ makes more sense and is just easy and real smooth.

Yep. Power comes on how you expect it. It doesn't have the 1-2 punch like the stock sequential, but it makes up for it in simplicity. Also, the power is SMOOTH all the way thru.

Which setup do you prefer on stock twins?

100% the Non-Sequential. Easy to work with. No tracing vacuum hoses to find your "boost problems" https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Fd3BOOST 09-05-2002 07:33 AM

Yea youand Ryan have me convinced thats the way to go.

Jedon 12-13-2002 11:34 AM

Well I went for it and started a full non-seq conversion. I took off the

turbo control actuator and wired the gate open. I teed the ABV and CRV

together, and capped off the connections to the charge relieve actuator. I

took off the ACV and made a block off plate.

Now I obviously need to cap some more lines and re-route some others. Here

are the pictures, can somebody help me with what needs to happen now?

Here is the stuff I took off

More and larger pictures here:

Thanx!!

Okay I labeled a picture with the lines I need help on:

Here are my mods: http://www.nopro.com/new_rx7.html

I have a PowerFC so I can just take the solenoids out without using

resistors right?

I have a med-large street port and will be running a midpipe/catback but a

stock pre-cat for now so that should prevent boost creep?

Thanx!

I got and Converted TWIN TURBO FOR SALE $650 rebuilt with only 3000 miles on it and it includes the Exh manifold.

Jedon 12-13-2002 12:17 PM

Thank you for the offer, I think I'll save my money for a single turbo kit though.

I always wondered if, after the non-seq conversion, is it easier to convert to a single later?

Jedon 12-13-2002 05:20 PM

Absolutely, you already have all the vaccum lines removed and block off plates installed.
