Major Oil Leak(s)...help
My '93 had a new engine and turbos 40k miles (3 years) ago. It started leaking badly a year ago and I took it to a dealer and dropped a bundle on fixing leaks then. Now it leaks oil like a sieve, again.
One dealer says it's the oil pan seal and wants to pull the engine to replace it and" to do the job right"....sounds extreme to me.
The other dealer in town says that the major leaks are coming from the engine mounting bolts and wants to replace and reseal them??? Do the engine mounting bolts actually penetrate the engine block below the oil level such that oil could come out around them??
Don't know who to believe.....help.
Thanks,
John

I feel your pain, since I have the same problem. First, I would stay away from the dealer that wants to pull the engine to reseal the pan. From what I understand, this can be done by just jacking up the motor, without even dropping the subframe.
I've already removed, and resealed my motor mount, but that didn't help, and when I had it off, I could see where it looked like the pan wasn't sealed in the back corner. Sure enough, still leaks after resealing the mount. The next step will be the pan.
Good luck.

OK guys...where is there a real RX-& shop somewhere near Knoxville, Tn???
This dealer "fixed" the engine mounting bolt leaks but now says, oh sorry all of that other oil that drips out after you shut it off it's coming from the case joints....only way to fix that is a new engine...yeah right!!
So far it's been some missing brass washer on the engine front, the front cover gasket and now the mounting bolts, all within 44 k on a remanufactured engine. The original went 77k without any leaks.
