Does anyone have an M2 Large Intercooler and a smog pump? I bought an M2 Large Intercooler with the understanding that it worked with the air pump in place.



Now that I have it mostly installed there is no way the intercooler is going to work with the air pump in place.



Does M2 make a special pipe for this or something?



I've tried to reach M2 on the phone but no luck getting them so far.

I'm pretty sure that only the medium intercooler from M2 will fit with the airpump, I'm thinking that you had better get a hold of the person/place you bought it from if they told you that it would work, either way, good luck with it...



here's what it says on M2's site, doesn't say that the air pump HAS TO be removed with the large, but DOES say that the medium doesn't, inferring that the large requires air pump removal:



Medium Stock-mount Intercooler:



This unit is the largest stock mount IC on the market that does not require relocation of the battery. This IC fits with most aftermarket intake systems* and does not require removal of the air-pump or battery.

it will fit but its not really supposed to. you have to loosen the air pump adjustments and lower it as much as you can, you take up the belt slack with the alternator.

Interesting... thanks for the replies guys. I'll try lowering the smog pump as much as possible... that might work but it's going to be tight.

Well I tried lowering the smog pump as much as possible and guess what...



... it BARELY fits. Wow, talk about tight.



I have a few more things to finish up and then hopefully it'll be all done. Full M2 Stage 3. I'll keep everyone posted.

yah its tight, back in the day you werent supposed to keep the air pump with that kit but brian made a slightly different ic pipe so you could cram it in there

I fit mine with the air pump back when I had stock twins. Only thing I had to do was relocate the battery.

If its too hard, take it out. When emissions comes, just put the stock intercooler and airpump back in. Should take you more than an hour or so.
