how effective is this thing? would it be a good investment to make to prolong the life of my engine?

any feedback about it would be very helpful

thanks,

No its not, as a matter of fact its possible for it to actually blow your engine. It works my retarding your leading timing without doing anything to the trailing timing. Depending on what part of the ignition map your in and how much decides to retard your leading it can create negative split. This means your leading is ratarded to much you trailing fires before the leading......this is a bad thing

If you tune your car properly there is NO need for a J&S.....instead of spending $x on a J&S spend it on dyno time or a Tech Edge wideband that cost $450. Its MUCH MUCH MUCH more useful.

Anyway think about it....it does by detonation to know when to retard your timing and its a little late at that point.

I also feel its useless because it doesn't retard the trailing timing.

I broke my stock Knock sensor. Should I just forget about it, buy a J&S or find a stock one? Thanks

more then anything what the a good after market intercooler is the answer. knock sensor retards timing when it happens . a intercooler will stop it from happening in the first place. you can run at stock boost with a good intercooler all day and not knock once. what happens is that people usually up the boost and the knock can come back depending on how you push it. ALSO NOTE the stock knock sensor is usuless after 6000rpms to much noise and bad desighn on mazda. Get a nice 1500-1800 IC get more power and it will not knock at all.
