There might be some miscommunication centered around the word 'track', too. I think Jeff means:



track = road racing



where I commonly see it used as



track = drag strip



I wish everyone used these words:



track = road racing

strip = drag strip

Every FD with a FMIC that I have seen at the (road racing) track has overheated. I've only seen two, but they overheated badly on a day that wasn't very hot. Only half the FDs with an SMIC overheat. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png You need every cooling advantage you can get if you go to hot (road racing) tracks.

i agree but its a bit too much of a generalization. i took my car on the halloween cruise balls to the wall up hills etc. no problems and i don't even have an undertray! when i was doing break in i drove it 500 miles straight in HOT weather no problem either. i have a real temp gauge and a haltech. my engine operating temps are LOWER with the 3row fmic and being single turbo. i can go on boost for 10mins straight temp doesn't go up. well this is my experience and i have no overheating. would you like to see my datalogs??? LOL

silver93t has one and went to VIR and had no cooling problems. i'm 90% sure i wouldn't either :bigthumg:

I think alot of the overheating FMIC FD's have stock twins.



I've never seen a single turbo FD with a FMIC overheat.



But I'm only 1 guy, so this may be different elsewhere!

I think we've got a little bit of agreement here. Yes Vosko my statement was to general. Your single turbo FD has some cooling advantages over a twin FD. Every FD with a FMIC doesn't overheat. Yes Max I meant track = road racing:).



A lot of people have problems with mods that they really don't report to the public. I've personally seen modded cars with FMICs overheat, even with upgraded radiators that didn't overheat before the FMIC install. The chances are that you'll at least raise engine temps with a FMIC, everything else equal.

i agree with jeff but the way he said it was that if you had a FMIC your gonna overheat. your gonna scare all the children that way LOL

I was contemplating getting a the greddy 2 row, because its thinner and would allow more air to get to my rad as compared to a 3 row. Guess i will just have to find out for myself since there are a lot of different opinions here.

oh yah.. concerning the post.. i have the HKS type-S front mount but...





the APEX'i and Blitz does not require cutting of the bumper because the intercoolers are mounted behind the reinforcement bumper bar.



i would get the BLITZ since you already have their intakes.

the APEX'i kit comes with filters and you dont need those.



they both would offer the same amount of performance. which is waaaaay better than stock.



if i put my hand on the outlet side of the frount mount intercooler its soooo cold. sometimes at night it feels like a pepsi can right out of the fridge.



HKS and Greddy require cutting of the front bumper unless you modify the piping and brackets for them to mount like the APEX'i and BLITZ versions.
