ok guys what you think... apexi front mount or blitz smic.... i have a blitz intake which i would like to keep, but the apexi looks very good also.. anyone have these or know which is better???
get the blitz fmic https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
would that work with my blitz intake???? and i'm just gonna be running about 15-16 psi on the m2 bb upgrade... is this gonna be good enough???
smic are ok.... i prefer FMIC.... they cool better and look nicer https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
thanks for the info
And the Blitz is a pretty SMALL SMIC. I'd go M2 Med and get a cold air box, unless you get a FMIC.
i like greddy fmic's as long as they come with all the piping ....
the one they have on rx7store for $950.... the 2 row... that one comes with all the pipes right??? so what's the big difference between the greddy and the blitz besides... $350????
double check and make sure the piping will work with your stock turbos and intake if not you might have to buy the more expensive kit. pm LOI and ask him if he can match the price from the rx7store
thanks... yeah i really don't want to buy stuff from the other guys..... but slava dissapointed me....
so far loi has been good even phinsup ordered from him !
must be a 7 syndrome....
not only does our cars provide a sense of anxiety as far as reliability... stores providings parts for em as well....jeez |
Get the Blitz. I got to see one yesterday, and it's a really good intercooler. I don't like how the piping is run, but it's definitely better than the greddy 2 row. The 3 row is what you want, even for stock twins.

blitz
wow everyone likes the blitz....yeah i really like blitz products and i also love HKS...
any name brand intercooler is pretty good.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
FMIC = running hot or overheating for street or track.
FMIC = less heat soak at the drags Jeff |
i don't overheat and none of my friends do with FMIC's........... on the street or track.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
I'm also looking into getting a Blitz fmic, I just want to make sure I buy the right one. I have the stockers now , but I will be going single bye next winter.

Vosko:
You know that overheating is a common problem with FMICs, I've got a friend that has the RX-7 Fashion FMIC that has occasional overheating. Not just cruising down the freeway but climbing hills while following slower moving cars. Lets put it this way then, engine operating temps will be higher with a FMIC than with a SMIC. Do you agree with that? Do you have a real temp gauge? Stock FDs overheat on the track under certain conditions (really hot outside), a FMIC in front of the rad isn't going to make the car run cooler. Jeff |
There might be some miscommunication centered around the word 'track', too. I think Jeff means:
track = road racing where I commonly see it used as track = drag strip I wish everyone used these words: track = road racing strip = drag strip I've clicked on too many "went to the track" posts and found a time slip I guess. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Every FD with a FMIC that I have seen at the (road racing) track has overheated. I've only seen two, but they overheated badly on a day that wasn't very hot. Only half the FDs with an SMIC overheat. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png You need every cooling advantage you can get if you go to hot (road racing) tracks. -Max |

I think alot of the overheating FMIC FD's have stock twins.
I've never seen a single turbo FD with a FMIC overheat. But I'm only 1 guy, so this may be different elsewhere! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |
I think we've got a little bit of agreement here. Yes Vosko my statement was to general. Your single turbo FD has some cooling advantages over a twin FD. Every FD with a FMIC doesn't overheat. Yes Max I meant track = road racing:).
A lot of people have problems with mods that they really don't report to the public. I've personally seen modded cars with FMICs overheat, even with upgraded radiators that didn't overheat before the FMIC install. The chances are that you'll at least raise engine temps with a FMIC, everything else equal. Pancakes are ready, gotta go eat:) Later, Jeff |
i agree with jeff but the way he said it was that if you had a FMIC your gonna overheat. your gonna scare all the children that way LOL

since i'm close by to him.. i picked them up. HKS carbon-fiber ti showed up at his office in one day of ordering. HKS type-s front mount intercooler.. two days HKS twinpower.. had in stock he has pretty close ties with the dealers... and is honest when items are backordered so you wont be wondering what in the world is going on. |

the APEX'i and Blitz does not require cutting of the bumper because the intercoolers are mounted behind the reinforcement bumper bar. i would get the BLITZ since you already have their intakes. the APEX'i kit comes with filters and you dont need those. they both would offer the same amount of performance. which is waaaaay better than stock. if i put my hand on the outlet side of the frount mount intercooler its soooo cold. sometimes at night it feels like a pepsi can right out of the fridge. HKS and Greddy require cutting of the front bumper unless you modify the piping and brackets for them to mount like the APEX'i and BLITZ versions. |
GET THE BLITZ! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif
I've got a Blitz SMIC, I'm gonna sell mine and get a M2 Large.
