which intercooler?

All depends on what you want and how deep your pockets are. No you will not have overheating issues just keep the engine cover on under the car and put some foam around the ends of the radiator so some air does not flow past it. If you look at the stock radiator you will understand what I mean.

Depending on the front mount and the radiator you choose, and how good is your ducting, and what type of driving you do, you may or may not have overheating issues.
The front mount heats the air before the radiator and also restricts much of the flow so that at the same speed, you get a fraction of the airflow you'd get with a stock mount. Good thing is that they're cheap.
Mid-budget and better cooling is a stock mount like the ASP (M2) medium or large (I have the large). The do not restrict the air from the radiator and both rad and ic take cool air from the front. They are as efficient as front mounts at speed but heat soak faster when you stop, but cool down quickly when you start moving. Another good thing is less piping which make for better throttle and boost response.
Best but most expensive are the V-mounts. Essentially a stock mount with the rad reversed and different ducting to better channel airflow through both rad and ic cores.

ASP Medium does not require battery relocation, the Large does and both require aftermarket intake because they won't fit with the stock box. They are the same price, check on rx7store or you can sometimes find them used as I did on the other forum.
edit: for some reason the webpage for the rx7store keeps getting changed to google.com... spam??
guess ill be going with the stock mount as i dont have a bottomless bag of money. any suggestion on brands, or are they all pretty much the same?
