is there a specific reason why the cars grounds are in those specific locations? lets say that i have a bad/broken ground under the car, would adding grounds where they are easier to get to do the job or do they need to be at those locations?

I've heard that you need that exhaust ground in the rear because it's after the O2 sensor. But I don't fully understand why.
