I need an intake for my 93 r1. I was thinking about hks, only because I see it on a lot of show cars. Any inputs or recomendation is welcome.

Modify your stock box. You'll get nice fresh air, and look stock. You drive an RX7... who needs more show than that?

yeah, but the stock airbox in 93+ are huge... go with aftermarket cone style and you will free up alot of room. Just be sure to make (or buy) an actual cold air box. Or that will defeat the soul purpose of "upgrading".

HKS is marginal. Foam filters don't flow as well at the K&N type and are known to melt sending crap into your turbos and motor. The best is the closed type intakes like M2's because the suck cold air from outside of the engine bay. I saw one for sale on the rx-7 forum not too long ago under the for sale section.

The foam filters flow really well, but they don't filter as well as K&N filters.

There is a comparison where the APEXi twin filters gain the most...
