? On Installing A Defi D Series Temp Gauge

Just wondering on how I would install a Defi temp guage (D series)it seems simple. Can I have both my factory temp gauge and the Defi if so how. Do I replace the factory temp sensor with the DEFI and splice the factory wires? Any detailed help would be appreciated.

you are going to have to drill into your coolant passage... pretty much next to the stock sensor.. you'll have to tap it to install the sensor for the gauge..

Another alternative would be to remove the allen bolt on top of the thermohousing and just screw in a 3/8" adapter. You dont have to tap your thermohousing but you will have to cut off one of the "ears" on your coolant filler cap.



In most cases you will have to remove the top of the filler neck. But be warned that the bolts may break on you. If you look at the pic, you'll see that the top bolt broke on me. The only bad thing about having the sender way up there is you have to wait for the coolant to reach it before it starts giving you temp readings.

Here is a pic of the filler cap. Dont pay any attention to the wiring, I set up some crude test wires when I had to do some troubleshooting.

You can get the 1/8" to 3/8" adapter at your local hardware store that stocks brass plumbing fittings. Or you can order it online.
