Idler pulley

For those of you who have removed the AC compressor..did you keep the idler pulley ? The only disadvantage that comes to mind is the inconvenience of having to remove the main or power steering pulley when replacing belts. I have the proper belt to run direct.. any other disadvantages in doing so ? Thanks ahead!

i don't see a disadvantage. i know of a few people who removed it.

some have indicated the "stretching over time" factor...the current belt i have now to run direct has very little deflection...assuming this factor will not come to play as im hoping that the deflection cause by the stretching is not substantial enough to cause slipping....
