Yeah... With the engine out, and the tranny still attached to the car... How should or CAN I tie her up so I can take the car to the spray booth?

Thizzanks!

Your best bet will be just to pull out the tranny, It would be the best way and quick and simple. Disconnect tranny and driveshaft, the rear diff will be fine.

It will be easier to put the engine back in too , since you can just drop the engine and tranny back in together.

just lay on the trailer and hold it up. Shouldn't be a problem for you.

aren't there tranny mounts? (never taken my Fd apart that far), if so, they should be sufficient to hold the tranny..

what I did while my car sat for the winter was to... take a strong metal bar, wedge it between the bellhoushing and the subframe. Push down on the bar, the tranny rises up, then chain the bar to the sub chassis

Hmmm... Ok. That sounds like a good plan.

LOL

Yeah there's mounts... But with the engine out, the bellhousing sits on the Engine Subframe and yanks on the clutch line...

I just connect my tranny brace to the tranny and it holds the tranny up :P

Or you could wedge a 2 X 4 or a 4 X 4 in there between the subframe and the bellhousing.

The rear diff will NOT be fine. Ever fell how much they weigh? Thats a lot of weight to be supported by the upper mounts. Not that they would break, but it would be alot of stress on them, plus the diff drops down a bit with no PPF, so the angle on those mounts change also.

whoa, Thanks for the correction man, I never knew that, I thought the diff support would of been good enough to get the car painted and back.

Yeah the diff is quite heavy, and considering the bad reputation the stock bushings have, putting un needed stress on them is not a good idea.
