Hmmm, whats going on?

I brought FD3S two months ago and It is still idling quite high.
Car does everything right(especially the going fast bit)
no error codes popping up. No smoke, good compression
1996 Rx-7 FD 88,000 kms, After the warm up process the
idle speed drops down to between 1200 and 1400 Rpm
A bit more than the stock 750/850 rpm range.
All ancillories eg a/c, lights, rear demister etc are off.
A friend says just adjust the idle speed but I would be
happier if I knew what the issue was and resolved it
properly. I suspect a damn vac hose but am hoping that
someone out there has a had a similar problem and has
the magic bullet.
I would appreciate any advice even abuse for not being
more proactive under the bonnet ripping off and replacing
hoses.
Kind regards the Raceace

If it is stock and runs fine, I would just adjust the idle screw like your friend said. If a vaccum hose has poped off it's more than likely going run funny at some point.
Check and see if the coolant lines to the throttle body are still connected, and if not that can cause it some. I have mine bypassed and if it is cold outside it will idle a bit higher say 1000-1100 rpms.
But if it is a vaccum hose the only real thing I know to do is get in there and look around.

Thanks mate, looks like I,ll have to bite the bullet and start ripping off hoses I guess.
I thought it would stand to reason that if I had a vaccum issue, I would get a solenoid
or opend circuit error code of some kind popping up during a ECU diagnostics test?
Well no good deed goes unpunished they say!
Thanks again, PS is it possible to interchange a series three FD 8bit ECU with a later series 4 16bit
ECU or are there going to be harness/bus connector issues. I already have a 16bit ECU I was given
by friend. Before I melt something, I thought consulting the masses would be in order!
