Just want to say hi to everyone on my first post.

Now- I am looking into purchasing an RX-7 (3rd Gen) and doing SOME mods to it. Not alot. I'd be happy with mid-12's

Now- I notice that when I am searching for one, the cars have the engine replaced, or turbos replaced, etc... And I mean ALOT do. Is it something with the car that I should be aware of when purchasing?

Thanks!

When modding alot of ppl do the wrong things, and pop the motors. Thats why it is very common to see rebuilt motors. The twin-turbo setup was a bad design has some flaws, many ppl do a single turbo conversion.

When buying the car, i guess u can't really go wrong if everything was rebuilt, huh? Otherwise check the compression on the engine and make sure there is no smoke of any color. Check for grinding gears in the tranny and usuall stuff like that.

SO how much is it to to a single conversion? As well as what needs done to make the car more reliable? Does the single turbo need to be a custom job or is there a kit for it? Also I realize this is a rotary engine, will I need to find a good specialized mechanic for the car if I purchase it?

Thanks guys!

When the car is cold it may smoke a little, that is normal.

Single conversion kits are a lot of $. Not sure how much $ they cost, I'm sure a 3rd gen. owner here could tell you.

To go single you can get a kit, but you'll also need exhaust, a good intercooler, bigger injectors, a better fuel pump, a new ECU, etc.
