Hey all,



Update. Going to run the ground wires when the car cools down here in a bit. It took me about 30 mins to get her started today. It's been raining the past couple of days and I didn't want to do it in the rain. This last tiff is the final straw.



The starter is getting power. This I know. I checked the terminals with a + tester. The car will click (as in click click weak battery. I had the battery checked and it checked out ok) but the starter will not 100% always spin. It's very [i]intermittent. Sometimes it fires right up ... other times not so much.



I'll let you all know if this solves it. Gonna give her a couple hours to cool the frack down. Those rotary engines run HAWT! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

Well. it's definately not a grounding issue. I grounded the starter 10 ways from Sunday and the problem persisted. I took off the starter and gave it a good cleaning -- in hopes that it was something that simple. No such luck.



It's an automatic car, so to the poster above -- not a clutch problem. Maybe it's a inhibitor switch issue? Thoughts?



I'm gonna have to have that battery tested again. It's a red top optima.





I'm moving this weekend so I'll get you all an update when I get to my new home in Los Angeles (moving from Chicago) and have a moment to have it tested.

Check the wiring to the crank angle sensors and OMP. One of the local guy here brought his car to me to fix and his OMP lines were all cut up because it was rubbing against the pulley. The car died on me while I was driving and also couldn't get it to start.



I also had a car that I looked at and wires to crank angles were distroyed. That car also had issue starting. So, check those wires and report back!

my friend had a similar problem and it was bad battery terminals. my problem seemed to be the something in the ignition, because ever since i installed a start button it hasnt happened. so if youve tried grounding and the battery terminals, try wiring a button directly to the starter and see what happens.

i did not read the posts but WTF ground the starter???? it is bolted to the trans!!!! how much more can it be grounded???

well wasn't the battery. it was the starter. Had a local shop rebuild the starter in a couple of hours while i waited. 70 bucks. CP Generators on Figueroa Street in LA is awesome. Just north of USC campus. I recommend 'em for starters/alternators. They carry most in the store. And what they don't carry they rebuild for you (with your core).



RX fired up on the first try after the rebuild.
