Ok guys as some of you know that I've talked to about this already I'm getting a third gen soon. I had to get one after driving my friends a few times, and working on it a fair amount. Here's the setup I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with let me know what you think about it. I may have left a couple of things out as it relates to other upgrades I'll be getting but this is straight off the top of my head while I'm sitting here bored at work. Here goes:

updated GT35/40 turbo which has a better wastegate, that is V band setup

upgraded radiator (forget the brand)

M2 Downpipe

stainless midpipe

ACT street strip Clutch/flywheel kit or I may get this twinplate ceramic button clutch setup depending on how much more expensive it'll be

M2 dual tip exhaust

M2 horizontal mount IC

Apexi power FC and upgraded fuel system along with that not quite sure on exact specs of the fuel system yet

Pulley kit

Yeah that's all I can remember off the top of my head right now, but I've been talking to the guys over at A-spec tuning and although I'm probably paying a little more to go through them they're closer and I can get the stuff all at once, drive there pick it up, install it and then drive back to tune the **** out of it. Anyway another thing I was thinking is since I'm going to get the horizontal mount IC I should probably also get a vented hood right? Just a thought but I wanna know what you guys think and well if I forgot something major then I guess let me have it haha. Thx in advance guys :bigthumg:

Don't forget your reliability mods.. :smirk: Silicone vacum hoses, alumminum AST (air seperation tank), fan mod. That maybe be all the reliability mods.. might wanna search for some more.. You wouldn't want anything to break..not saying any names..

I never understand why guys plan on tossing the stock turbo before they even get the friggin car.

You don't even know if you like the twins yet and you want a single.

Jumping the gun a bit dont you think?

Also you should set your sights a little lower unless you have **** load of cash to drop.

Your post should be more like........

I am soon buying a 3rd gen.

Where can I get a workshop manual?

Also I want to get a few mods done to get me started,

I want to get your opinions about what I plan on doing.

I am gonna do a vacum hose job, install a down pipe, boost guage, and a cat back.

When I get that all done I am gonna take it to the track and see what happens.

Thanks for any advice,

But do whatever floats your boat.

It's your car that is gonna be fucked from inexperience.

I hope that you get it.

Fd3Boost: damn ripped into him nicely, wow. Maybe he already has the workshop manual and has studied every page of it. The 3rd gen he is going to buy may have all those things done as well. And he already stated he's ridden, and probably driven, in his friend's FD's before.

I'm not criticizing your post because honestly I agree with you, I'm one of the newest of the new around here and when I'm bored believe it or not I go through the pages of the shop manual that i downloaded form iluvmyrx7.com. I also have one of the most comprehensive step by step modification lists I have found, of course it is tailored to what I'm looking for, but still.

Just think if he comes back and says his motor's blown you can point to this thread and say "see i told you so"

Back to the original topic though, you've got your sights set nice and high and i wish you well with your project, as well as your wallet, cause as everyone knows speed don't come cheap .

Also about needing a vented hood for the horizontal intercooler, unless it's the Scoot hood with the "ram air" type thing in the front not much air will be going into your engine via the hood, the aerodynamics will push the air up and over the vents, so while i doubt it would be a necessity, a vented hood is always a good thing to have with these gril...engines of ours.
