fuel pump/ fuel gage problem

I have a 93 fd..so i changed my fuel pump to a warlbro 255..when i finished with it i saw that my fuel gage wasnt working no more..im thinking its the floater...one of my buddies is telling me that i need to change the whole fuel pump assembly..i need need some suggestions before i start to blow money on that

You should just need to change the sending unit. The pump itself has nothing to do with that, they're just mounted in the same place

I would say, its more likely your lil foam float fell off the sending unit when you reinstalled it into the tank, pull it out and see if the foam float is in ur tank. Another possibility is that the wires that hook up to the sending unit are disconnected...
