First I am new to the forums here. I have a 93 that I just recently acquired and I am having a problem with it running way to rich. The car seems to breakup about the time the turbos get spooled and then it just wants to bog down. The only performance mods I have done are exhaust, down pipe,

piping kit, boost gauge, turbo timer, upgraded all the vacuum hoses to silicon, air filter kit (hks), and I am waiting for my blow off valve. When I open the hood there is a strong gas smell that remains for quite a while. I am hoping that you all may be able to help or give some advise on what to check out. Any help would be great. Thanks

ok you are hitting fuel cut. don't beat on the car till you get a reprogrammed ecu eg M2 or Pettit. you risk blowing the engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as you may have noticed this is VERY important. lemme know if you need more info. this could also be an ignition problem. change the spark plugs and wires if in doubt.

Thanks for the info. I just talked to someone and they said that I blew an apex seal??????? Please tell me it isn't this........ It just started doing this after I pulled the intake to replace some of the vacuum hoses. So why would it be the apex seals???? This is becoming very depressing.

Thanks

is the car idling ok ??? what kind of vacuum are you pulling at idle. those two things can tell you easily if you broke an apex seal. good luck. lemme know if you need more help

Idles rough. Need to check vacuum. Not real sure how though. I know that sounds crazy but its true.

Your boost gauge should show vacume when at idle. You should be somewhere around -15mm of vacume.

Did you do ANYTHING with the fuel when you pulled you manifold? Did you pull the injectors or anything like that? Have the injectors ever been replaced?

Did you reconnect the map sensor line when you put it back together? That will make it run like crap and break up, I'll also make a strong fuel smell when barely running idle. If the map sensor isnt hooked up its reading outside pressure instead of your motors pressure. It reports that pressure back to you ecu.

Everything seems to be hooked up. The injectors have never been replaced before that I know of. Before I replaced all of the vacuum lines I was having boost problems which someone told me was a vacuum problem. Fixed that now I am having this problem.

Thanks for the help

Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions. I am still trying to figure it out. If and when I get it fixed I'll let everyone know. Also if anyone else knows what might be causing this problem please post, because you can never have enough knowledge on these cars.
