I actually monitored the air intake temps on the drive back from LA to reno with it...they stayed pretty low and constent even when the outside air temp and engine load increased. they only varied an average of about 5 deg. C and as I remember they were pretty low.

if you are going to the trouble of heat wrapping your intake pipes find something else to wrap them in. The wrap looks like exhaust wrap, which is fine for exhaust systems since the exhaust systems operating temp is high, and as such the wrap needs to take the heat.



Go to mcmaster.com and find some sort of wrap or sleeve that has around 130F operating temp that has higher thermal insulation.

most of the time even if the pipes get hot from heatsoak or what have you, the air inside is moving rapidly enough that it doesn't transfer the heat from the pipe to the air.
