hey guys im having a problem with my FD i have no power what so ever and the car is back firing like crazy, the car smoke a bit when i start it up but it doesnt smell like antifreeze or oil it just smells like raw fuel, also when im going up a hill ill make about 0.5 bar of boost but then suddenly my gauge drops to zero and the car is even more sluggish. I think the problem may be a coil issue or possibly a clogged up cat do you guys have any ideas of what the problem would be?

Boost sensor is on the firewall just aft of the throttle body. Should have a single vacuum line going to it. Make sure that's secure at both ends. If that's not it, and your car idles normally, you might be in limp mode...no timing advance or fuel if the manifold is not under vacuum.

Is this a LHD or RHD model?

If LHD, do you have a CEL? If so, -----> http://www.fd3s.net/engine_codes.html

If RHD, can't help you. IIRC, there's a way to pull potential codes with the exhaust overheat light, but not sure.

Uh, OK. It may need that. But it may not. Nothing in your initial post conclusively indicated a rebuild. Good luck...I guess.

i personally dont know, but it sounds like limited fuel. u might make sure your getting good fuel pressure, and if you haven't replaced your fuel filter recently you might do that. and maybe check your spark plugs, that would be the cheap way to do it.

This was exactly the symptom I had when one of the rear apex seals let go and wiped out the rear turbo. I had to rev between 3k and 5.5k (with no power, I think some 3 year old kid smoked me on a tricycle!) just to keep moving. Got it rebuilt at KD Rotary when Skip Gorman was there.
