I'm having an issue finding a fuel pump that handles, ethanol's corrosive abilities , flows enough for larger lines, an alcohol A/F mixture and that won't spark the conductive ethanol. trying to find an intank pump/pumps is becoming a real headache So I think an external fuel pump may be my only choice. so my question is does anyone know of a quiet or semi quiet external fuel pump that is reliable for a street car.

aeromotive has a real nice line, i believe they have oens designed specifically for ethanoal/alcohol.

check summit.

any idea how loud they are?

the bosch ones are oem, and designed to be mounted externally (well most of em) and they are audible, but not loud. if you stand next to a running german car from the 80's or early 90's you can hear the pump hissing away (actually its prolly the fuel flowing thru the lines making most of the noise but i digress)

there is a thread kicking about in scooby land from a guy that has ran e85 for 2 years with a intake walbro 255

if its external youre gonna hear, especially with a hatch rather then a trunk. its impossible to find a quiet one.

put it this way, the crazier it is, the louder its probably gonna be. even if it doesnt make noise itself youll still hear the vibes....you could mount it under the car i guess to quiet it, but thats dangerous, so is gas in the cabin but hey.

i wonder about mounting the pump where the fuel filter is, nice safe spot.

i dunno thats a long distance for the fuel pump to be from the tank, i think it would cause some hard starting...unless you leave a walbro in the tank to feed the external then i guess it would cancel it out. then again fuel pump near the clutch/flywheel....potentially very dangerous. nhra rules probably wouldnt allow it.

Kevin, are you thinking of FD's?? the fuel filter is just behind the fuel tank... top of rear diff.
