I recently noticed a rattling noise coming from under my engine bay when my car is idling. However the noise will go away if I rev my engine to 1500 rpm while in park/neutral. I've been told by my local dealer that it is the exhaust/heat shield rattling because it is loose or rusted. they said it could possibly be a rock stuck in there also. I want to know if there is a way to tighten it or fix it without replacing the whole part?

LOL

you gotta get in there and take a look!

Asking us if your heatshield is rattling isnt going to help anything. Quit postin on the internet and get under your car

It's most likley rusted to hell. There are some you can get to with the turbos on, and some you cannot.

1) don't run without the heat shields - without some protection from cooling air and splashed water, your turbos could crack.

2) find the bad heat shield and buy a used replacement. Don't buy one from the dealer.

check your turbo actuators..

they could be loose causing it to rattle against the manifold..

I actually did a boost check the other day and my 2nd turbo is only getting 5 psi of boost and a mohth ago it was fine. Maybe it does have something to with the turbos being loose.

Well I fixed the problem, it was a waste gate actuator clip that was gone which was probably affecting my boost.
