I was racing with my friend and I can see his flames during shifting. can he really be too lean? maybe in the lower rotations? he's driving this setup since over 1 year now.

It's not the extra boost, but the SPIKE that he may have to worry about. The Stock ECU is tuned rather rich....so even if he has a full exhaust, he may still have a level of "security"...However, with the spike is where he'll blow his engine
