Engine Knock
#1
How bad does a knock on a sensor of 100 (That's when it's bad) sound like?
I checked out a car and you could hear a knock (uncertain of location) from the engine bay. It was pretty damn obvious and I would have jumped to the conclusion that it was the infamous engine knock that shows signs of death, but the damn thing had 58k miles. What else could be causing the knock? The turbo was leaking quite a bit (turbo dead) and the engine idled at 600-800.
I guess looking at the owner, who said he had it for half a year...it was obvious he beat the **** out of it.
O well 4 out of 4 have been fucked up.

Rotary should not have any knock at idle. If so then change the oil. If you are serioulsy worried about the engine you should compression test it. It's not like a piston engine where the lower end bearings will wear out and create a knock. If it's broke you will have super low compression. It would also be very hard if not impossible to start.
If you getting knock under boost then it needs to be taken to a tuner, and lay off the boost until you can get someone to correct the timing.

Your bearings could be dead causing your E-shaft to wiggle and bang the rotors against the housings too..
My motor sounded like a midget was inside it smacking a sledgehammer against the wall.. Haven't pulled it apart yet, so I can't confirm that the sound was ACTUALLY bad bearings.... but that's the generall guess from the know it alls.
Do what dave said first though.
