any idea what would cause the engine compartment to sound like a diesel?

im almost posistive its not the engine because it revs smoothly. however i hear this noise, at idle. sounds liek a diesel engine idleing. its louder when teh car is cold and it dissipates as teh car warms up, but never goes away.

im thinking water pump or power steering, since it now also makes a noise when i turn the steering wheel when im parked/at idle.

any thoughts...

I've got some weird noises since my build up...but they all go away once warm.

I added a engine torque brace...and wonder if I'm just hearing noises more clearly that were there before?

you have one of the emission pipes unplugged, the one that goes to the back of the manifold. (it used to go to the airpump) when teknics and i took mine off my car had that old v8 rumble to it at idle

so this morning my noise hass hit a higher pitch than yesterday so i go to check under the hood an dnotice power steering fluid gusshing out of the reservoir. so i took off the belt. what a PITA to drive.

any ideas as to why the fluid might be backing up? clogged, frozen lines?

the fluid looked very dirty.
