i think this may be a device only in usa/japan version

where do you have it in your dashboard?

only the usa cars have the light.

Is the engine light supposed to operate as normal after you install the PFC then. I noticed that the engine light does not come on when the ignition key is in the on position with the engine not running. You know - since the PFC is a Japanese mod and the Japanese model does not have the light.

Thanks Mike! I was a little worried about it. I actually pulled the dash back out to check the bulb and conector, but everything seemed ok. I am happy to know what is going on now. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Capitancombo, connect a monitor lamp to the diagnostic connector like the lamp on page F-67.

Then jumper the TEN connector to ground (like closing the test switch in the same diagram). You may be able to read out the error codes that way.

Thanx jwhite94RX7

i think you refer to the "Fuel and emission control system" section when referring to F67, right?

do you think i can keep that lamp always connected (and maybe put it in the dash) and so have a engine-light like US version?

Yes, that's the Fuel and Emission Control System Section.

The lamp connected to the diagnostic terminal is not exactly the same as the Check Engine light. You can probably connect a light permanently and install it in the dash if you like, but I suspect that the diagnostic light will not do anything unless the TEN terminal is grounded, and you don't want to do that permanently because it disables functions in the ECU (like idle control).

You could put a switch on the TEN terminal and install that switch under the dash so that you could enable the light whenever you want, but you won't have the warning function of a Check Engine light, i.e., the light won't come on by itself when a code is stored. Be sure to remember to turn of the switch after you use it.

I don't know all this for sure, though, because I've never tried it.
