i think i popped my motor, when i crank it over i feel the torque of my starter and thats it... its like its froze up but everytime i crank it the motor moves and if i do it enough times i can get a full rotation out of about 10 cranks.. so i know its not froze but what else could cause this??

i was driving to work and was going around 75mph with the cruse on and all of a sudden my car sputters and turns off and then it does what i said above... thats all it does but all my interrior pieces, lights exe works so it kinda makes me feel it isnt a ground issue but at the same time i really dont think my motor went.. i know these are rotary motors and im used to pistons motors but when a piston motor locks up u cant budge that motor at all... but this one i can get to turn over but very slowly with multiple crank trys.. anyone got an idea what and where i should be looking at??

Sounds like it might be seized up. Any overheat issues? Did you check the oil? I assume the battery is fresh? You should be able to turn the engine over by hand.

keep us posted

no over heating issues that i know of. my motor never went more than half way on the temp gauge and i just changed the oil the night before with fresh oil.. its confusing to me... if its siezed up can i not rebuild this motor with the atkins rebuild kit or is there going to be a lot more work than that ahead?? it turns but its not very easy to turn.

I was going to order the rebuild kit anyways cause I wanted to upgrade my turbo and do a port and polish job on it. and well i was nearing 80K miles on it and i felt id buy it and do it when its time or over this winter I just hope my motor is rebuildable now without haveing machine work done :-( cause that is just going to suck ba**s https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

Please don't take this the wrong way, but when I am asked to fix someone's computer, the first thing I ask them is "What was the last thing you did to it before it stopped working?" Nine times out of ten, the answer to this question will pinpoint the source of the problem.

So... a possible seized engine that had undergone an oil change the night before would lead me to take a good hard look at that oil change. Is the level still right? Was it oil or something else? Did something get into the engine during the oil change? Was the drain plug and filter tightened? Not calling into question your mechanical ability, but mistakes do happen.

i wont take it the wrong way. everything was done and my oil level is still fine with no metal flakes in the oil... right before it stopped my motor started to sumble and then it turned off.. like it was running out of gas or it was shorting out that sort of stumble... then poof it was off and it was stuck so thats why im confised.. i used the normal oil i always use and a new fram filter and everything... not one thing different and the oil i took out could have gone another 500 miles or better still yet, oil was clean... thats why im confised why this happened... or if my motor is actually the problem.. i dunno im stumped

check the wiring on your crank angle and omp.

Make sure none of the wires are cut by the pulley.

teamrj83 11-14-2006 02:37 PM

i will check that out.. this totally sucks man.. is it possible or does it sound like maybe my motor got carbon locked??

plan on sending your irons to racing beat for lapping cost if i remember is 75 per side and your gonna be waiting 2-3 weeks from the time they receive them at RB LAPPING IS CONSIDERED MANDATORY BY ALL KNOWLEDGABLE AND THOROUGH BUILDERS, the ONLY builders who DONT LAP are the cheapo builders who's engines are junk and wont last
