Interesting sidepiece:

About ten years ago we had some guy put on an official "Cannonball Run" type event - a sprint due South from Darwin to Alice Springs (a distance of 1,300 miles).

The event was canned half-way through 'cause some Jap-guy killed himself after destroying his F40 at high speed (est 180mph) whilst leading the event...

No autos were ever imported by Mazda Australia, the only imports are grey-market. The grey-market (ex-Japan) cars only go up to 180km/h on the speedo, so this must be manual...
