All help would be appreciated.
my buddy has a 93 that is basically stock. Only upgrade done prior to him buying the car was an exhaust it seems. At this point, his primary turbo is shot. so he has to get them rebuilt. We have discussed him going single but have come to the conclusion of it being too expensive. so now the thing is. he first of all has to get a new radiator cause his stock one has cracked. so koyo radiator is in line. rebuild the turbos. and he also wants to get a FMIC. with doing those 3 upgrades what else would he need to do to make sure his car runs properly. oh and what other little upgrades can he do? like pulleys and what nots! he has been told to tune his ecu because of the IC. i know he can prolly run more boost because of the FMIC. is there anything else he or i should know? ryan |
Expect something else to break soon???
I can't think of anything else. |
while the turbos are out, have all the mods done to them to run non-sequential. Thisway you can eliminate a shitload of crap under the hood and make the car more reliable.

what would that consist of. fd > me

get an apex safc to help with the upgraded turbos it a cheap item that will help squeeze out a few more hp. a good egt gage and a good a/f gage. and like you said a pulley kit.

hahahahah
thanks jay! |
Replace brittle air hoses.
Replace water hoses (especially to turbos). Heat coat turbo manifold when rebuilt. No tuning needed for FMIC (OEM ECU can't be tuned anyhow). I don't see the FMIC increasing boost and he should not turn it up without fuel upgrades. If he still wants to spend money then water temp and boost gauges. If he can control boost, then a heat coated down pipe should be done at the same time since he has to replace the metal gasket, nuts and studs. |

Since the OEM radiator has already cracked, he may want to look into AST bypass or switching to an aluminum AST before the pastic one goes. Other than that, GoRacer said it all. |
aftermarket ecu should be # 1 with a front mount unless he wants to rebuild his motor along with his turbos. I started in the same place a couple years ago and my first purchase consisted of fmic, intakes, power fc, springs, boost controller, and i did a silicon vacuum hose job (that will get you real familiar with the car real fast...lol) Just my .02 cents...good luck though man!
