Can Anyone tell me of a place or a site where I can find a conversion kit that lets me switch an automatic rx7 to a standard one?

o.o

any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

There isn't really a "kit" for it. You pretty much need all the manual stuff to convert.

I have a 5sp tranny if you need one:)

From what i have heard it is pretty straight forward going from automatic to manual. It is going from manual to automatic that is a bit more difficult. Good luck with your conversation. Tell us how it goes!

you'd be money ahead to just sell your automatic and buy a 5 speed, unless you can do all the part sourcing and work yourself (and your question sort of leads me to believe that isn't an option).

and when you eventually sell your converted car, it will become an issue that buyers will use to drop the value of the car...

just my opinion.

I also agree with Jenkins.. I would never do a swap unless you absolutely wanting to do it so you want to learn... Its also pretty expensive job as you would need new harness, tranny, drive shaft, clutch, flywheel, starter, clutch slave cylinder, lines, pedals and all the hardwares, shifter, shifter knob, new shifter panel, new cluster(unless you like the auto cluster), take tranny cooler off, lines to the coolers, etc etc.. By the time you put time and money, it would of been cheaper for you to sell your auto cheap and pick up a manual FD...

When you go thru all that... its also probably a good time to upgrade everything.. probably easier to drop the engine and add all this before putting it back in.. But like Jenkin said, If you have to ask about a "kit", you probably wouldn't want to take on this task.

Ah. So the easiest way to do this is to just sell the auto...and go with a maunal. ^_^' i would do that...but hardly anyone on this island would want an auto..so i think im pretty much stuck with it.

but...isnt the possibility of a donor-car still available? would that make the dent in my wallet a little smaller?

o.o

just a question cause my friends continue to hassle me about a donor-car and i have yet to stumble across one. and i appreciate all the information that everyone has contributed.

now...does anyone know where i can find a manual rx7 1994 that still has everything in it?

and sorry for the stupid questions ive been asking. im still learning. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

There is no such thing as a stupid question. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

I learned a lot in this thread. I have helped a friend go from auto to manual in a 5.0 mustang and it wasn’t too difficult. Guess it is different for the FD https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Sukai94 12-05-2006 09:37 PM

Depends on where you are located but i may be able help you out if you really want to go manual that badly https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

If you fly me out to hawaii, I'll help you with the conversion.. LOL!

Well, Nothings really hard.... Just takes time. IF you want to do the conversion right, you have to replace quite a few things (as I listed above). If you look at the list, you'll be dropping engine, tranny, rip off all the rats nest, re-wiring, adding clutch, clutch accessories, etc etc..

The point Me and some of the Veteran FD owners are trying to say to you is:

1. How much is your time worth.

2. What is the purpose and reason for the swap - If you want to learn and want to challenge your self, I say go for it! If you want to track it and think its only way to make power is to go manual, Go do some more searching.. there are people making just as much power with auto and apprently you could use PFC with auto FDs.

To me, my time is worth more than wasting time doing the swap. Also, there is no point of doing the stock to stock swap. If I go that far as to drop the engine and so forth, Its almost better to go all out and build the engine and such.. You know what, if you could do the swap and think its easy, building an engine should be also fairly simple..

If there is no available MANUAL FDs in Hawaii, you could always go to CA and pick one up and ship it back. Also there is a guy who owns a shop in Hawaii.. Not sure, but I've talked to him couple of years ago..
