I never knew you could... "unclog" a cat. Strange.
But anyway, it's a JEEP. Just take the damn thing off. |
Cut it out, and replace it with a pipe.

have him price a new one...
i would assume the difference is not substantial... |
a '01 JEEP and its clogged already?Thats insane. Most cats last at least3 or 4 years

It may be a NY thing but I thought the emissions system on a car that new are by law covered under warranty(I'm not 100% on this, think I read it a good couple of years ago when my cat was clogged). Seems particularly strange that on such a new car not only would the cat be clogged but that the dealer wouldnt replace it. I wouldnt hack it up untill every option has been exhausted...hehe! :bigok:

I agree with Manny, and I don't think it's just in NY. The dealer needs to fix it. I thought cats were covered by an extended emissions warranty. I think the dealer is looking to put aside a few bucks for Christmas shopping.

This from a site called gatewaycleanair.com:
Federal law requires that emissions control systems on 1995-and-newer vehicles be covered by warranty for two years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first. Many auto manufacturers provide extended warranty coverage beyond what is required by federal law. Federal law also requires that the on-board computer and catalytic converter on 1995-and-newer vehicles be covered for eight years or 80,000 miles. Consult your vehicle owner's or warranty manual for coverage information. |
Tell the dealer to roll that invoice for $350. into a neat round ball and shove it up his ass!
