Well I avent driven my car for a while. Needed a water pump and I have been too busy to replace it. My cousin and I were messing around with it to see if it would start. The car is turning over but nothing happens. When I turn the key I get 5 beeps...pause...5 beeps.

What coule be the problem? It has been a month since I have touched it. Coule something have happend since then. I flooded the engine a while ago and just left it their. We took the plugs out and tried to turn it over. Their is alot of compression and gas comes out but it is dark. Is that carbon from the engine?

Everything I can think of has been checked. Battery is good. The only thing i can think of......Its needs a rebuild. Could I still have alot of compression and my engine still be bad? I did overheat it before I parked it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

Any help would be great! Thanks!

were the plugs wet when you took them out?

I would pull the EGI fuse, one of the big ones in the box next to the battery, and crank it a few times till you are sure no gas is coming out of the spark plug holes. Next put the plugs back in, put the fuse back in, and try and start it. If it's still a no go, pull a plug wire and check for spark

I pulled the fuel pump fuse from the inside of the car. Would i need to unplug the EGI fuse from under the hood also? Alot of gas came out. I am wondering if I didnt crank it enough https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

pull the fuse in the box under the hood next to the battery like turbovr6 suggested... then crank it alot

take short breaks during the unflooding so you don't overheat the starter btw.

after unflooding it, you can try putting a little bit of premix oil or marvels mystery oil in the combustion chambers via the spark plug holes then crank it a bit more. you can add some more and crank more again... this will coat the chamber and seals with oil helping it build compression, flooding it washes the oil away...

then put the plugs in and try start her up, if she still doesnt start definitely start checking for spark and see if it flooded again (make sure yourestore the fuses when you're done unflooding!)

Unflooded it. Alot of nasty looking gas came out. About the color of oil.

Checked for spark. Thats good.

Recharged the battery that is good.

So now I noticed that when I put the key in I get a long beeping noise that wont turn off unless I take the key out again. It is a long steady beep. Could that be keeping it from starting?

I have a feeling my water level sensor is bad. Could that keep it from starting?

Are their any sensors or disconected hoses that could allow it to turn over but not start. It really wants to start!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

That long beep will probably be your water level sensor (look for light in temp guage). Sounds the same as the "you've left your keys in the ignition but the door's open" buzzer...

Will the car start without the sensor? I took it out and it is broken. I don't want to pay 50 for another one but I have to now. I will get it tomorrow. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

it will start without that sensor, for now you can ground that wire to something metal to kill the beep. If you have spark, and fuel it should start.

YEah that is what my cousin said....their is fuel and spark. But my gas looks really bad. If it sat flooded for a while could the carbon have ruined my gas. That is the only thing I can think of. It is driving me insane!

turbovr6 09-16-2003 06:12 AM

the gas looking black is normal, when the engine floods like that the gas starts to eat away the carbon and they mix.

Did you crank it till ABSOLUTLY NO gas came out of the holes? When I had injector problems with my car it took close to 1/2 hour of cranking, 1 min cranking,1 min rest. to completly de-flood the engine. What I did was have someone crank while I held a blank piece of paper over the holes to see what was or was'nt coming out
